The Story
Continuing my tribute to Van Gogh’s legacy, Rhone Flight explores the serene beauty of his 1888 masterpiece, Starry Night Over the Rhône. I’ve always been drawn to how Vincent captured the glow of artificial light against the natural darkness of the river, and I wanted to translate that luminous energy into this watercolor study. Using my pointillism technique, I meticulously placed the pigment to recreate the shimmering reflections on the water and the distant, glowing skyline within the butterfly's wings. It’s a celebration of color and light, merging the delicate nature of the butterfly with one of history's most emotive nightscapes.
While each butterfly is a stunning standalone statement, this collection was designed to be experienced together in a 'tile' style arrangement. Whether you choose your favorite or the complete set of four, these pieces bring a cohesive, vibrant energy to any gallery wall.
