I’ve always been moved by the intensity and emotion in Van Gogh’s self-portraits, and here I have reimagined his steady, soulful gaze within the wings of a butterfly. This work explores the idea that an artist’s spirit takes flight through their creations. Using a detailed watercolor and pointillism technique, I wanted to capture the same swirling energy and 'visual brushstrokes' that Vincent used to communicate his inner world. It is a celebration of the lasting impact a single artist can have, and a reminder to look at the world with the same vibrant curiosity that he did.
